Submit your original film for a chance to be a part of our Young Film Campaign and win an award at the Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival!
The British Council and Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF) Foundation is calling for films made by young people in Nepal. You can submit original short films on one of three themes: climate change, cultural heritage, or inclusion.
We will be selecting up to 10 films for a round of voting before announcing our final winners. All selected films will be part of the Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival on 29 May – 2 June 2024.

If you intend to make a film for this call, please refer to our extensive resources which can support your filmmaking journey. Our video and text resources are available in English and Nepali and they are tailored to young people as well as adults who want to facilitate young filmmaking. Films can be made on a mobile phone, tablet or with a camera.
Films should be
- All films submitted must be less than five minutes long (including credits). Films longer than five minutes will not be considered as part of the competition.
- One entrant can only submit one film.
- Both fiction and non-fiction films will be considered
- Films should be free of copyrighted media (music, images etc.)
- Language can be Nepali or English (other languages will be considered if subtitles are provided in Nepal or English
- All entrants must be residents of Nepal or be based in Nepal
- Submit using the form by 11:59 PM Nepal time on 29 February 2024.
We are providing a host of resources to support the filmmaking process, including two workshops for educators.
- Three-hour sessions are facilitated by our seasoned Camera Sika mentors who will cover basic filmmaking skills and help with practical guidelines. Follow us on social media for the workshop opening.
- You can also download our bespoke guide to documentary filmmaking and watch our 'how to' video tutorials which will strengthen your filmmaking skills before you start. We strongly recommend reviewing these resources and/or registering for the workshops before starting on your film.

The Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF) Foundation is a film festival that showcases a diverse array of films from around the world to Nepali audiences, focusing on mountain communities and cultures. The festival has screened hundreds of films and facilitated discussions addressing a range of issues, from the political resilience of mountain communities to the rise of identity politics in adventure sports, and the impacts of climate change on mountainous regions.
