Project Partner Equal Access - EDGE Project

The British Council, the American Embassy along with Equal Access designed and delivered the English and Digital for Girls' Education project in 2015. This was my introduction to the British Council as I represented one of the implementing partners, namely, Equal Access.

English and Digital for Girls' Education was a project which was carried out in five districts of Nepal. The main aim of the project was to improve English and ICT skills among adolescent girls in the remote areas of Nepal. The project ran from September 2015 to March 2016. During the implementation of the project Equal Access, along with The British Council and the American Embassy, helped more than 2000 adolescent girls improve their English language and digital skills.

After attending the five-day training, the girls went back to their respective regions and formed English and ICT clubs. Each club had about 24 girls in it. The participants attended these clubs every week and were provided with laptops and tablets. They were given these devices to increase their English language and digital skills through practical application. The primary goal of the project was to help them in gaining employment opportunities after they finished their studies.
