A three-year partnership forShakshyam: Quality Education, Quality Schools project between Mathagadhi Rural Municipality, Palpa and British Council Nepal was signed on 25 July 2022 with a focus on the following four main strands:
- Capacity development of the Municipality to plan, evaluate and monitor teaching and learning: providing face-to-face training and supporting municipality members to strengthen accountability, teaching and learning in their schools, inclusion and gender-responsive education planning.
- Establishment of a team of teacher educators to support and sustain English teachers’ and other teachers’ CPD: developing teacher educators to mentor, train and monitor other teachers in applying learning-centred pedagogies and inclusive practices in their classrooms.
- Continuing Professional Development for teachers and school leaders: providing supportive teacher development opportunities for female and male teachers through training, coaching, self-study and peer-mentoring to improve their knowledge and skills in English, Core Skills, inclusive and gender-sensitive practices and communicative language teaching methodology.
- Support for students to develop their English and life skills in classrooms: implementing projects and in-school clubs which allow students to apply English skills and Core Skills to real-life problems and engage in relevant community social action projects.
