The Selector is the British Council’s weekly international radio show bringing you the best new music the UK has to offer. A two hour programme hosted by DJ Goldierocks, The Selector covers all genres of contemporary music and features interviews and exclusive live sessions from some of the most exciting British artists making music in the UK today.

With an audience estimated to be in excess of three million listeners, The Selector reflects the brilliance and diversity of British music, promoting the sounds, talents and musical culture of modern Britain to an international audience.

The underlying aim of the show is to challenge people's perceptions about the UK and showcase the wealth of creativity and innovation on offer here. It avoids many of the mainstream British acts that international audiences might already be familiar with, in favour of emerging talent and underground flavours.

Goldierocks, AKA Sam Hall, is an international DJ and broadcaster extraordinaire with a celebrity following that includes Madonna, Giorgio Armani, Richard Branson and Jade Jagger (she’s performed exclusively for them all). Her weekly global radio show ‘The Selector,’ legendary to those in the know, goes out to a staggering 37 countries with over four million dedicated listeners, prompting The Sunday Times to recently describe it as ”the most cutting-edge British music show out there.”

Sam covered for Dev on BBC Radio 1 several times in 2011 and anchored Reebok Radio from the Manchester Warehouse Project throughout 2012. She also hosts a Friday late night specialist dance show ‘Selector After Dark’ on Mexico’s Ibero FM, China’s Loop FM & Warsaw’s Roxy FM.

As well as radio, Sam has stage dived, rocked out and propelled herself off various stages around the globe having DJ’d her unique blend of eclectic house, world beats, mash up electro & bass heavy remixes to thousands across five continents. 

She performs at endless festivals worldwide including Creamfields, Latitude, Leeds, Wakestock, Secret Garden Party and Glastonbury to name a mere handful. Then, more unusual venues might be Soviet bunkers in Kazakhstan, the beaches of Lake Malawi, warehouse parties in Shanghai, inside igloo discos in the Alps and then on slightly more luxurious super yachts in Monaco & Sydney Harbour. She also has her own self-titled London club night and has been the official red carpet presenter at the BRIT awards for the past two years running. 

She had the honour of performing a 90 minute set at the Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony London 2012 which was televised on C4. With a crowd of 80,000 people with millions watching at home, it was one of many career highlights for Sam.
