The British Council recently launched a volume of research on 'Developing effective learning in Nepal: Insights on curriculum, teaching methods and school leadership' in its fourth Education Symposium, held virtually from 23 to 27 September 2020.

The publication brings together a variety of insights into the realities of schools across Nepal and provides useful background theory to the key areas of core skills, school leadership and global learning. It is divided into two main sections. First, it has five main chapters covering core skills in the curriculum; employability skills; international perspectives on learning; the changing role of school leaders and attributes of school leaders. Next, it presents nine case studies from classrooms in Nepal and Asia, drawing on the authors’ findings and with recommendations for the future. The publication can be read both as an inspirational handbook for school leaders wishing to drive improvement for staff and students and as an information source for the interested observer.
