Towards Creative Green Economy and Climate Action

Youth and Climate 2024 united stakeholders from diverse backgrounds to explore creative green economy and youth leadership in climate action. Through a series of activities, the participants engaged in conversations to discuss climate change-related challenges and opportunities. The programme provided a platform to share how youth – through innovation, advocacy and action – can respond to the climate emergency.

The activities united leaders, artists, activists, community members, academicians, educators, and youth innovators to explore creativity, entrepreneurship, and environmental sustainability contributing to a greener future.

Organised in collaboration with a consortium of UK and Nepal partners, activities between 3 and 10 June 2024 included:

  •  A one-day symposium on creative green economy and climate action
  • A week-long exhibition that showcases creative green projects
  • An interactive talk programme on material culture
  • Workshops and masterclasses for students and creative professionals

Media Mixer: Exploring Creative Green Economy

Venue: Martin Chautari, Thapathali I Date: 24 May 2024 | 9:00 am to 1:00 pm 

Media Mixer: Exploring the Creative Green Economy is a half-day event featuring compelling stories of the Creative Green Economy - a model that aims to combine entrepreneurship with environmental and cultural purpose as the only way to realize effective sustainable development in Nepal.

Climate change reporting is commonplace today, so, it has become more important to maintain a critical focus on the developments around climate action in Nepal. During the event, we will hear from academics, researchers, entrepreneurs and other experts and participate in discussions informed by a multitude of perspectives from across sectors.

Youth and Climate Symposium: Towards Creative Green Economy and Climate Action

Venue: Hyatt Regency, Boudha I Date: 4 June 2024 | 9 am to 3.30 pm

The Symposium brings together government representatives, civil society leaders, organisations, academicians, educators, creative professionals, activists and enterpernuers to participate in a series of conversations focusing on the topics of creative green economy and youth leadership in climate action. The programme includes media showcases, panel conversations and paper presentations by academicians, experts, researchers and youth we have worked with.

Curated by Story Cycle with the support of partners Nepal Art Village, Kathmandu University, Applied Arts Scotland, and Edinburgh Napier University.

In Our Hands Exhibition

Venue: Taragaon Museum, Boudha I Date: 4 June – 10 June 2024

 The exhibition brings together a selection of works by ‘In Our Hands’ grantees over the last three years.

 The exhibition is curated by Kathmandu University, Center for Art and Design.
