“During my exam day, someone came to usher me to the exam venue, took me to the exam hall, helped me to register and later after the exam was done I was again ushered back”
Krishna Dahal is visually impaired. Because of this, for him finding a place to prepare for IELTS became the biggest challenge. Krishna is pursuing his bachelor degree in Psychology and English Literature and is planning to study in Europe. initially, Krishna was reluctant to approach educational consultancies with his queries and when he did, many replied to him saying we had no idea whether special arrangements can be made for candidates like him or not. Taking and processing on his behalf was felt by many as a risky job. Fortunately, he found a consultancy and prepared for his IELTS exams.
He came to British Council with queries on whether he can receive special arrangements for IELTS test as he had received for his A-Level from British Council. When he came to the British Council, as he had predicted, he found out that special arrangements can be made for him and for which he submitted an application stating the required arrangements. He was very impressed with all the support he received and how quickly he was informed about his arrangements and his test dates.
As per the special arrangement, special pause CD was brought, extra time was given and during reading part, someone read the part/passages so that he could attempt the exercises. Krishna feels very grateful towards British Council for all the arrangements made for him as he successfully appeared in all four parts of the exams. He said British Council met his expectations and hopes to see Braille printed questions and specially trained IELTS instructor in future. “During my exam day, someone came to usher me to the exam venue, took me to the exam hall, helped me to register and later after the exam was done I was again helped to return. The hospitality and support from the British Council were very good. I was equally encouraged by the invigilator during the reading part because I struggled a lot in it. Even when I was questioning frequently, they replied very positively,” said Krishna.
He said he would gladly recommend British Council for IELTS to everyone because the coordination and communication is very good. How British Council dealt with his queries, the way they coordinated with him and helped him throughout was very nice, which according to him many institutions lack.
“There was always someone to help me. From the time I entered, until the time I came out, people were very supportive, positive and hospitable to me,” said Krishna.
